Wednesday - Blue Team Art Day!

We started by having our photo’s taken by Mr Glover and then went to the computer room where we made the photo’s black and white by adjusting the exposure and using ‘greyscale’. After this we printed the photo’s and went into the art room.
In here we coloured them in our team colour; blue, and whilst we were on our break Mr Glover blew the pictures up (not literally) to A3. We cut the pictures out, glued them on to a ten foot piece of paper and painted the paper and pictures all blue again. We hung them up to dry in the stairwell of the science block.
At the end of the day Mr Glover judged all the art work. Our team won and we all received backpacks.
Wednesday - Orange Team Art Day!

We made our way over to the I.T room where the pictures of the whole class had been loaded onto the computers. We played around with the pictures and put them into black and white we then printed them off.
After we had done that we went to the art room where there were six ten foot pieces of paper lying on the tables.
We had to work in our groups to cut out all the pictures and stick them onto the card. Once we had done that we had to colour our faces in in the colour of our team, (orange) and then we had lunch. We had half an hour for lunch then we had to be back in the art room for half past twelve. Once we were back in the art room we had to decorate our banners. It was really fun because our team used painted hands to join our faces together.
Just before we finished we hung up our banners and Mr Glover had to decide the best team,(personally I think it should have been ORANGE !!!) Sadly the blues won it.
Once we had finished we went back to the library and we spoke to each other about our presentation that we have to do on Friday, our subject is stomp for about ten minutes then we went home.
I am really enjoying this week because it means I can make some new friends and learn my way around the school.

Wednesday - Red Team Art Day!

We started our day of with our puzzle books because as we all know PUZZLES MEAN PRIZES.
Next Mr Glover came in to talk to us about what we would be doing today, he said we
were going to be doing Street art on a 10ft long piece of paper, also he said we would be putting our own faces on to it. So he called each group over to have their photos taken.
After that we all went into the computer room and designed our photos, as we had to make the pictures of our selves look black and white. Next we coloured our photos using only the colour of our group name, which for my group was RED. Next we cut out our photos and stuck them on so that they were carefully laid out on the paper. Then we decorated the paper around the photos using only the colours RED and BLACK. Once they were fully decorated we hung them up on the stairs in the art department.
Next Mr Glover judged the street art posters and the winner is………………….THE BLUE TEAM.
They each all won a back pack to take home. Then we all walked back to the library and went home.
All in all it was another great day!!!!!

Tuesday - Red Team Visit to Tate Modern!
Our Second Day at Summer School…..
First we registered and continued with our puzzle’s which of course ‘MEAN PRIZES!’. Then collected our sketch books and equipment and boarded the coach for an hour long journey to ‘Tate Moder
n’.
When we reached the gallery we went of in groups of 3+ around the building. We saw many paintings, models, short films and peculiar exhibits including some of my favourites ’30 pieces of silver’ and ‘The hanging soap‘.
We had 2 and a half hours to do our own thing (walking around the gallery, sketching, eating, and possibly shopping) at 12:30 we went to see the ’Street Art’ exhibition outside the Tate (huge paintings on the outside walls). We then went to the ’Street Art’ information tunnel were we could draw on the tunnels blank walls and play an interactive game.
After that we headed back to the coach looking at famous buildings around London, then we began our journey back to school.
In all it was a fun, information filled day.

Tuesday - Indigo Team Visit to Tate Modern!

When every one had arrived at the school, we set off in a coach for London to see the Tate Modern Art Collection which was very exciting for everyone! The journey was not very long and the traffic was good. No one knew what to expect. Especially how BIG it was!
Our task was two draw at least two different pictures by two different artists in sketch books we were given. We also had two write a little bit about the painting (the history of the artist.) We found some very easy pictures like Eve which looks like and red back ground and a purple strip on the right hand side of the canvas. That was the very easy one!
After our trip around the Tate modern we stopped and had lunch and visited the shop which had every thing you could think of from books to table mats!
Outside the Tate Modern there are five MASSIVE pictures on the wall out side and they are only there for a short period of time, so we were lucky to see them! In the court yard there was a shelter that looked like an old bomb shelter from the outside, but in side it is covered with people’s graffiti and people leaving notes to there friends. Then we had the trip home where every one drew in their sketch books.
I hope every one has as much fun (or even more!) tomorrow when we are doing some thing different!
Tuesday - Green Team Tate Modern Trip!

Tuesday - Blue Team Tate Modern Trip!

We were given a list of artist’s pictures to find and to write about or draw. Much of the art was abstract, but our challenge was to find faces such as a famous painting called Carnival; it has lots of expressions and is very creative.
When we were finished in the gallery we went into a small building just outside, where we were allowed to do graffiti on the inside walls.

Even more Monday Media ...
At the very beginning of the day we started our puzzle books because everyone knows ‘PUZZLES MEAN PRIZES!’ Afterwards Tracy Middleton gave a very interesting presentation on how to make presentations. We learnt how to breathe properly which meant we could calm our nerves. We also learnt about what people remember and like in a presentation.
Next we started a workshop on story boarding and how to draw people without making them look like aliens. Half the group then moved on to photo stories, while the other half worked on short films.
I did the photo story. Team Red decided to make a short story, consisting of 10 pictures, about knife crime. Before we could take any pictures, we had to draw out all of the frames with speech and thought bubbles.
All in all it was a fun day packed full of information…
Ashley - Group Red.
On arriving on our first day we met in the library to find out our groups. While we waited for everyone to arrive we worked on puzzles, which were all different types.
Secondly, we had a presentation about how to layer a project. Thirdly we went to the ICT suite. Mrs Shipp then showed us on the whiteboard how to draw people in photos and videos. Then we started work on our stories which we planned and then either made in to a video or a photo story taking the pictures or filming anywhere on the school site. It took up the whole day but it was very enjoyable.

More Monday Madness ...
When every one was here we where given a presentation on how to give a good presentation. After that we went in to and IT room and learnt how to draw close ups of people.
After our lunch we started to plan our story. When we had finished we then draw the story out on little pieces of paper. When we had completed that, we got the equipment and learnt how to use it. After that we went over to the field and started filming.
The filming was lots of fun!! We filmed it all in 10-15 mins it was not too hard to act but it is hard do use the recording camera.
It was really fun and we can’t wait till tomorrow!
Laura - Indigo Team
This morning we had an introductory lesson, about how to present yourself and handy tips to use in a presentation. Before that, when we arrived we were split into groups to work with for the rest of the week.
After that we headed over to the Media theatre and head of Media taught us how to draw simple faces incorporating perspective into them. We then were split again into groups and some of us went and sketched out our films, and others their snap shot storyboards. We could choose were to film and take photos around the school and will complete them on Thursday.
Daniel - Orange Group
Monday - Media Day!
After break we went to the Media Room, where we meet Mrs Ship who taught us about the 7 camera shots and how to draw people properly. Soon after we had drawn each person we started to work on our film or cartoon comic strip (graphics). Our team had been given VIDEO and we had to come up with a story to do as our film.
We haven’t quite finished yet, but it will be good!
Casey - Blue Team
On day 1 we came into the library and did some puzzles. We helped each other on the ones we found hard. Next we watched a presentation about how to give a speech. After break we went into the Media department and learnt how to draw people with confidence. Then we had lunch and played football.
After lunch we went back to the Media Department and split into our groups to discuss what our movie was going to be about. We decided to do ours about two boys who get stalked by two men and one of the boys gets killed. Once we had decided about our film, got the costumes and the camera we went to the cricket club and filmed. Finally we walked back to school and finished in the library.
